What is Hopes Place?

In the Bible God tells us, "I know the plans I have for you; plans for good and not for evil, plans to give you a hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11) This verse reminds those who trust in God of His ultimate purpose for each life, of the active nature of God in our lives, and of the hope that God brings in spite of confusing or even devastating circumstances. The message of this verse provided the inspiration for the development of a teen ministry center at Wake Chapel Christian Church. Hope's Place addresses both the need for our youth to be actively involved in ongoing ministry, and the opportunity for our church to reach our community with the message of the hope we have found in a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.

Through God's providence, Wake Chapel Church renovated the existing Family Life Center, reinvesting the church's interest in the old school building. Bathroom facilities in the gymnasium area were improved making the building useful again. At the same time, moved by God, the church called a summer youth intern and promoted the Wake Chapel youth ministry to a whole new level. These developments led the Board of Christian Education and the Board of Deacons to ask the church for help in equipping Hope's Place with inviting and engaging youth oriented activities.
Response was overwhelming! In the fall of 2002, Hope's Place began monthly events with commercial grade table games, restaurant style booths and tables, a youth made stage and new opportunities for witnessing. From athletic events, like the Hope's Place Turkey Volleyball Challenge and the March Madness 3 on 3 Tournament, to nights just to hang out, shoot some hoops, and fellowship with friends, Hope's Place events have become something area youth, both churched and unchurched, look forward to with many coming again and again.
The possibilities for this ministry are endless. The location of Wake Chapel, just across from Fuquay High School is ideal for events such as Overtime and possible Back to/End of School Celebrations. The facilities are large enough to host youth conferences, or to invite youth evangelistic speakers or bands. This ministry is unique to our community and the facilities are unrivaled. God has placed the desire in the hearts of those at Wake Chapel to minister to our community and He has provided every material need necessary so far. We trust Him completely to make the Family Life Center gymnasium useful to Him year round.
