Wake Chapel Christian Church Youth Ministry
Purpose Statement
Our youth ministry seeks a partnership within the body of Wake Chapel in which we give our students appropriate experiences that promote biblical growth:

Youth Ministry Goals
- Grow Together (Support healthy relationships)
- Youth with Youth
- Help students understand what real fellowship is through:
- Planning get-to-know-you activities/times
- Including prayer times with/for each other during our meetings
- Encouraging consistent attendance
- Youth with Adults
- Encourage E.S.P.N Team Members to have an active/available relationship with their partner through:
- Letters, phone calls, visits, celebrations
- E.S.P.N Team Dinner
- THE Party
- Individual E.S.P.N Team Member communication and outings
- Encourage parents to be involved in their child’s spiritual growth through:
- Hosting an Extended Play event
- Serving as chaperones
- Providing parents with culturally relevant material and/or advice that may help in their parenting

- Grow in Christ
- Youth should know what they believe, why they believe it, and should be able to explain it to others.
- Have studies of individual books of the Bible to help students develop a comprehensive understanding of the Bible.
- Have topical studies on concentrated issues (prayer, obedience, purity, other religious beliefs, salvation, knowing God’s will, sin, the Doctrine of Christ, etc.)
- Teachers should know and use scripture during youth group times to back up what you’re saying.
- Provide youth with opportunities to share their faith

Teach youth to value the Bible. - Encourage youth to read their Bible at home.
- Remind youth to bring their Bible to church
- Purchase a Bible for any student who cannot afford one.

Grow in Number (Build upon the Kingdom of God)
- Present the gospel in some way every week/meeting.
- Encourage youth to invite their friends to youth group meetings
- Encourage attendance by inactive members

- Give older youth and college students leadership opportunities
- Adult leaders and/or youth pastor should contact inactive youth and address any issues there may be.
- Adult leaders and/or youth pastor should follow up with and disciple any new believers.

Grow through Service (Make a difference in our local church, community, and world)
- Plan Mission Trips yearly

- Equip youth to serve God in what He leads them to do.
- Help youth discover and utilize their spiritual gifts

Get parents to view the youth ministry as crucial and essential
- Update parents on youth group happenings (bulletin, chapel chimes, e-newsletter, phone tree, mail)
- Include parents in youth group happenings (as chaperones, hosts for Extended Play, etc.)
- Include parents in youth group planning. (Youth Council, encourage open dialogue with Youth Leaders)

Work towards ensuring that every one of the youth become a Christian
- Present the gospel in some way every week/meeting.
- Teachers and students should have compassion and pray for the “empty chair.”

- Teach youth how to share their faith, and encourage them to do so.
