“Mission” according to the Oxford English Dictionary means “the action or act of sending.” Since its inception in the New Testament, the church has always sent missionaries to preach the good news about Jesus Christ. That message is what sets all missionary efforts apart from humanitarian enterprises. The needs of mankind are legion. Hunger. Poverty. Sickness. The list is without end. Yet man’s greatest, deepest, and most fundamental need is the matter of sin. Men, women, boys, and girls are sinners. The Bible says so. Many folks enjoy looking at Christmas through the eyes of others. I find special delight in seeing Christmas through the eyes of children. I find too that it deepens my understanding of the in-carnation to look at the birth of the manger babe through the eyes of people who pass through that scene. . .
