I have discovered that fishermen are a most interesting group of people. They are more avid than golfers, which is hard to imagine!
Fishermen will drown their bait, whether it be real or made of rubber. They will fish when it cold. Or when it’s hot. Or when it’s neither cold nor hot. They will fish when no one had had a bite for hours. When the water is turbulent. On any day of the week. At any time. You get the idea?
Question: Wouldn’t it be serendipitous if we could see Christian men and women imbibe the fishermen’s spirit when it comes to evangelism? I’m speaking of fishing for those who are headed to an eternity without a Savior. These are men and women who have scales covering their eyes.
Jesus said to the brothers Peter and Andrew, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Mathew 4:19). He is still in the business of making fishers of men today.
Ready to do some spiritual angling? The fish are biting!
