Join us Sundays at 10:30AM

Joy Ministry

JOY stands for Just Over Youth, and is the name we've coined to our ministry to those of us that have retired.  We meet for a wonderful time of food, fellowship, thanksgiving, prayer, programs, and reminiscing. The group loves to share stories of our families, our Church, and our Lord Jesus. JOY has been a thriving ministry at Wake Chapel for more than 20 years. The group meets the first Monday of each month, September through May. Typically, meetings are held in the main campus Church Fellowship Hall and begin at 11:45 a.m. Lunch is served at noon. All seniors are invited to join our JOY group. Exciting, fun, and educational field trips are an important part of the JOY ministry. Events include picnics, cook outs, train trips, and, more recently, a trip to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit.

Lois Ministry

The Lois Ministry is an outreach ministry to seniors, widows and widowers of Wake Chapel Christian Church by the women and men of Wake Chapel Church. We want to be an encouragement to those in need of a helping hand, a visit for fellowship or a card of encouragement. The Lois Ministry derives its name from II Timothy 1:5.

We maintain a list of people that would be considered “care-receivers” but are always interested in adding those in need to our ministry. If you are aware of someone that we should add to our list and could use our ministry in some way, please contact Glenda Lowell at 919-779-8701. Be sure to leave your name and telephone number and she will return your call as soon as possible.

These are just a few suggestions to be considered and it would give us great pleasure to serve our Lord Jesus by meeting their need:

  • Do you know of a senior that could use transportation to a doctor’s appointment?
  • Could we help them by picking up a medication that has been ordered?
  • Does someone need a lawn mowing or bushes trimmed?
  • Would someone appreciate a home-cooked meal and a visit?

“Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; Not lazy in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” Romans 12:10,11

The Lois Ministry Team meets and plans a Birthday Dinner for some of our Seniors quarterly. The time and place for each meeting will be noted in the WCC Sunday bulletin prior to the meeting. We welcome any woman or man that is willing to serve our Lord with us.

Please consider joining our Care-Givers.
